I am Fighting Cystic Fibrosis
Hi! My name is Phoebe and since you are reading my blog, I thought it might be a good idea to offer a little more personal information; some background info on me. I’ve had a chronic illness (Cystic Fibrosis) since birth. I’ve had so many hospitalizations, I’ve lost count. Let’s just say that I’m on a first name basis with pretty much everyone from admissions to CNAs at the hospital. I have always been surrounded by the arts and have a huge passion for art in all forms. I love music. I love photography. I love writing. I love the visual arts. I love creating art as well as experiencing it on the stage, on the wall, and on the radio. I graduated with honors from the Arts & Communications Magnet Academy and have since moved on to putting on my own art shows, writing poetry and doing photography. You should know something about me. I am not a victim. I’m not going to even try to convince you that I’m just plugging away making the best of my situation with a glib positive attitude about life. I do not love having Cystic Fibrosis, but I have it and I deal with it. Having a chronic illness is not who I am. I love life. I love living. I don’t believe there is any excuse for not pursuing one’s dreams. I am not a victim of Cystic Fibrosis. I am living in spite of it. I believe that is my strongest characteristic, and indeed, my most successful action.
