About CCA

We prescribe joy.

For children diagnosed with serious illness and their families, every moment is precious. At CCA, our goal is to transform as many of those moments as possible — with joy.

Why joy?

Because in the fight against devastating illness, joy is often forgotten. Because joy connects us with the power of hope, comfort, and happiness and helps families and children feel uplifted when their lives have been turned upside down. Because joy is something every child deserves.

Financial Stewardship

CCA is a trusted organization that has been recognized since 1995 as an excellent steward of financial resources. We do not accept government funding for our programs, therefore relying on our community to be the lifeblood of our organization, providing JoyRx to critically ill children, teens and their families. We understand how important it is to be good stewards of your financial support and are proud that 79% of all funds go directly to our programs. We are excited to share our endorsements, memberships and honors that prove our track record of accountability.

In fiscal year 2012, which ended April 30, 2012, CCA served nearly 11,000 children, teens and their families through a variety of innovative programs. 443,477 interactions were recorded during this time, with kids, teens, families and hospital staff through CCA's MusicRx, Chemo Pal Mentor Program, Link and the Alexandra Ellis Caring Cabin, as well as the JoyRx website and our many other education and community resources.

Charity Navigator Rated Charity

CCA received the highest rating in organizational efficiency from Charity Navigator, the premier American charity evaluator. This rating was based on how we allocate money among programs, administration and fundraising, and how efficiently we use contributions to grow programs. We proudly earned four stars, which exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities.

BBB Accredited Charity

Children's Cancer Association has been evaluated according to the 20 BBB Standards of Charity Accountability and successfully meets all those Standards. The Children's Cancer Association is proud to have been the first NW Division non-profit to be recognized as an Accredited Charity with the Better Business Bureau.
