Meet our 12 new CCA Heroes. Now in its 21st year, Celebration of Courage brings together our Heroes and their families in an intimate and festive atmosphere where our Heroes are honored for their remarkable achievements, endurance, and optimism.
This month we celebrate the first of our 2019 CCA Heroes, Shaun. Shaun and his family visited the CCA office to take part in his official CCA Hero photoshoot just weeks before he died. We are deeply saddened by his death, but grateful to have known him and all the joy he brought to the world.
First impressions can be deceiving—especially in the case of April’s CCA Hero, Amanda. Beneath this polite 16-year-old’s reserved demeanor, there’s a wicked sense of humor
If you had asked me two years ago to describe my family, I would have said we were the typical Washington family… But in the summer of 2017, our four-year-old daughter, Lyla, was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor.
Just try keeping up with Weston. March CCA Hero is fun-loving Weston! A fan of hiking, exploring, and flying kites, he’s also particularly fond of cheesy bread, strawberry ice cream, and his baby brother, Reid.
February’s CCA Hero, Hannah, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, but she’s never let that define her or break her kind spirit.
