What’s your favorite superhero?
What’s your favorite place to play live?
How do you sing so good?
Those are just some of the burning questions that CCA-served kids got to ask their favorite music stars in a brand-new video series that recently premiered on December 2. The series, called “MyMusicRx-clusives” was part of CCA’s #GivingTuesday campaign to raise awareness for MyMusicRx and funds for the Children’s Cancer Association.
MusicRx-clusives features short, Q&A-style interviews with some of the world’s biggest music stars like Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Keith Urban, Jonas Brothers, Luke Combs, Marshmello, and more answering questions submitted by children who are hospitalized with a serious illness.
The program is a partnership between CCA and Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company. Not only are they one of the largest radio broadcasters in the U.S., they also believe in the healing power of music.
“Children’s happiness and health have always been core values at Entercom,” said Pat Paxton, Chief Programming Officer of Entercom. “We’re always looking for new ways to touch the local communities we serve by using our access to artists and delivering it directly to kids who might not be able to join us in person at one of our events.”
Giving Kids the “Exclusive”
For a kid stuck in a hospital bed, connecting with one of their musical idols is a dream come true. Through video, young patients get “exclusive” access to personalized responses from world-famous artists, who generously took the time to support CCA’s mission of joy. Their answers are charming, thoughtful, and occasionally humorous—in one clip, Garth Brooks jokingly gives one patient a tongue-in-cheek recommendation on music venues: “Kyra, if you want to sneak into a dive bar that you’re not old enough to get into yet, The Dusty Armadillo, I’m telling you right now that place knows how to have fun.”
If you’ve ever wondered where the Jonas brothers like to hang out or what Lizzo’s ultimate power song is, here’s your chance to find out. Video recordings of the interviews can be viewed on RADIO.com, the exclusive digital home for all Entercom content across its 235 stations. You can also watch on the Entercom / RDC YouTube Channel and at JoyRx.org/Exclusives.
Giving Tuesday may be over, but it’s never too late to support our Joy-based programs. Learn how you can help MyMusicRx bring more music medicine to kids by visiting JoyRx.org/Exclusives.
