Golf for Joy Austin Tournament Returns for its Second Year
On April 21 and 22, 2024, JoyRx welcomed golfers to our second annual Golf for Joy Austin Tournament, presented by NFP. After a successful inaugural event last year, we were thrilled to return to Omni Barton Creek Resort & Country Club for an exciting two-day celebration of joy. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of supporters like you, we raised more than $245,000 in support of JoyRx Music.
An Evening of Joy in Austin
This year, our Evening of Joy was indeed an inspiration for the guests. From the powerful words shared by our honored guest speaker, Allison Wolfe, to an insightful conversation with our celebrity panelists, it celebrated community and the power of joy.
We are grateful to Coach Jody Conrad, Brian Jones, and Pat LaFontaine, who shared their words of wisdom, perseverance, and triumph with us as our celebrity panelists. We also heard from NFP Vice President JJ Ruiz and JoyRx Regional Director Grace Holland, who spoke about the power of joy and community.
Alex Moffat, JoyRx Ambassador and New York Leadership Council member, hosted the night and fielded questions from our guest panelists.
Allison Wolfe’s powerful story was the standout during the night. She shared the story of her son, Ford, and his interactions with JoyRx Music during a stressful, overwhelming leukemia diagnosis.
“We were grateful to have music as part of our clinic routine,” she shared. “In those long stretches of waiting, we’d have our timing down: snack time, iPad time, playtime, and time for music. Time for singing. Time for laughing and playing and enjoying life the way any kid should. Time for JoyRx.”
A Successfully Joyful Golf Tournament
To each of our committee members and team captains, thank you for leading us through a fantastic tournament! And to each of our sponsors and players, we are grateful for your support and presence. To all the staff and volunteers who brought this event to life, thank you for sharing your talents and commitment with JoyRx.
The tournament provided our teams with many opportunities for friendly competition, playing in the shamble format. In the end, though, there can only be one winning team, so a hearty congratulations to our winners: Ben, Mary, Tripp, Garrett, and Ryan!
