You will build and lead a frontline fundraising team, thrive in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment, and have proven experience growing major gifts and annual revenue for mid to large sized non-profits.

    This leadership position is responsible for growing the major and annual giving programs at JoyRx. To successfully meet and exceed major giving goals, the Director of Philanthropy will leverage their own fundraising expertise while effectively managing a team focused on fundraising, stewardship and cultivation.

    This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Revenue & Development.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Revenue Strategy

    • Lead major gifts program including strategies to qualify, cultivate, solicit, upgrade, steward, and recognize major donors. Develop and implement multi-year, comprehensive engagement strategies for highest-level donors.

    • Manage and promote proper use of a moves management system to ensure prospect pipelines are refreshed, pursued, and fully engaged. Direct use of analytics and reports to provide a disciplined approach toward goal achievement and projections.

    • Lead Foundations Manager by providing leadership, direction and goal setting to drive the success of team performance in major gifts, annual appeals, donor relations and planned giving categories.

    Fundraising & Donor Engagement

    • Manages a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects

    • Annually responsible for securing gifts ranging from $10K to $100K+. This position will manage a

      yearly portfolio donor prospects and be responsible for personal revenue goals and ensuring

      team fundraising success.

    • Work directly with SVP of Revenue & Development to manage their portfolios, and the

      engagement of key board leaders and annual major donors.

    • Collaborate with key campaign volunteers and board members in the solicitation process of

      both major gifts and corporate partnerships.

    • Ensure that donors experience high quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and

      investment in JoyRx’s mission.

    • Oversee the donor relations plan that ensures all major, corporate and planned giving donors

      receive appropriate, consistent recognition, stewardship and an accounting of the impact that

      their gift.

    • Produce monthly reports for SVP of Revenue & Development that monitor, track and utilize

      donor metrics to aid in departmental strategy, track performance and monitor donor

      satisfaction.

    • Create customized major gift proposals including creative concepts, corporate partner

      activation, employee and volunteer engagement, and budget requirements.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree, 7-10 years of progressive experience in development, fundraising, philanthropy for a mid to large size organization

    • Experience supervising direct reports and/or teams

    • Rich development background, with progressive and successful experience in major gifts

      portfolio management and closing major gifts, resulting in a proven track record of meeting

      revenue goals.

    • Demonstrated success in relationship-building processes, including strategy, approach,

      execution, delivery, and collaboration.

    • Familiarity with CRM databases and Microsoft Office suite

    • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, preferred

    Work Environment:

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time (40 hours/week) exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Friday 8:00 am –
    12:00 pm, with the option to be remote Mondays and Fridays. This position requires occasional evening hours and weekend work.

  • JoyRx Music Specialist, Part-Time PNW

    (20-25 hours per week)

    Who You Are:

    The Part-time Music Specialist is a multi-talented musician capable of engaging children and teens bedside along with their family members and hospital staff through tailored live music, music instruction, music exploration, and instrument checkout. Candidates in this position must be passionate about serving seriously ill children, teens, and their families in a hospital setting.  

    Essential Functions

    Music Services:

    Let kids and teens prescribe the JoyRx Music experience that feels right to them, e.g. playing, singing, exploring, learning, and connecting with others through recreational music, informal song writing, impromptu lessons, and music technology  

    Provide live music bedside and through digital broadcasts for children across units in the pediatric healthcare setting  

    Facilitate structured and improvised musical group experiences  

    Provide basic recreational music lessons; suggest and check-out instruments and technology

    Participate and perform for digital and live hospital concerts and at occasional internal and external JoyRx events  

    Administrative and Other Services:

    Host music volunteers in order to help expand the JoyRx Music experience, infusing music throughout the hospital setting  

    Maintain the JoyRx Music music cart and its instrument and technology inventory  

    Support guest tours highlighting JoyRx Music services in the hospital setting and public relations activities by providing JoyRx through the healing power of music  

    Talk to families about sharing their JoyRx Music story through photo or video via JoyRx’s social media channels  

    Provide appropriate administrative and data support as needed  

    Skills

    A musician and vocalist who is proficient playing guitar, ukulele, or keyboard in a wide variety of different genres as well as having a comfort level with music-based technology applications (e.g. iPads and web-based music programs)  

    Ability to work in an environment with children, teens, and family members who are under stress, in pain, or undergoing medical procedures, and deliver therapeutic music services that support the child, family, and the hospital staff as appropriate to the situation  

    Preference for bilingual capacity, particularly Spanish highly desired  

    Knowledgeable of current and popular music for kids and teens with the ability to improvise in the moment  

    Observant/sensitive and able to respond quickly and appropriately to events and people  

    A direct and confident communicator with strong social and communication skills  

    Ability to foster a culture of positive impact; be personable, self-confidant, optimistic, and enthusiastic  

    Ability to maintain and model strong boundaries and professional maturity

    Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team  

    Able to work rotating days and hours within a team - ability to work one evening per week

    Education & Experience

    Bachelor’s degree or like credentials in music education, child development, and/or social work  

    Experience working in a medical setting or medical knowledge preferred

    Experience working with kids and teens

    Work Environment

    This job primarily operates in patient hospital rooms, activity rooms, and other common areas. This position interacts with patients, family members, staff, etc., under all conditions and circumstances and communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, etc. This role is regularly in contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.

    JoyRx is a growth organization that looks for team members to grow with it. JoyRx offers a generous total rewards package, casual work environment and an inclusive culture. Pay rate starting at $23/hr depending on experience. This position is not benefit eligible.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a part time (20-25 hours/week) non-exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed; days and hours of onsite work range from Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm depending on the specific hospital units served and 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Friday from home. Typical units include pediatric emergency department, ICU, oncology, rehab, and general inpatient and outpatient areas. This position requires evening hours one night per week and occasional weekend work.
