Celebrating 15 Years of CCA Invitational
Friends of JoyRx, the mission delivery of Children’s Cancer Association, gathered on Sunday, August 6, and Monday, August 7, at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club for the fifteenth annual CCA Invitational 2023. The purpose? To help raise critical funds for seriously ill children.
And they certainly made a powerful, Joyful impact as the community banded together to raise over $350,000 for JoyRx Music, Mentorship, and Nature programs.
Sunday Night’s CCA Invitational Dinner & Program
The two-day event, sponsored by OnPoint Community Credit Union, kicked off with a dinner and reception, featuring a round-table discussion with ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap and former Nike Director of Basketball Marketing, Eric Lautenbach.
Sunday evening’s program was an inspiring hit, with JoyRx CEO Danielle York opening the night with a powerful keynote, followed by a heartfelt speech from JoyRx-mentee and current JoyRx Mentor, Sarah Florig.
Joining as the event host, Mark Mason, a longtime 1190 KEX radio host and Trail Blazers Public Address announcer, led the night with his enthusiasm and heartfelt support. His wife, Louise, a tenured JoyRx Mentor and retired pediatric oncology nurse, was in the crowd to support the night.
The evening ended with Mason leading a hearty Q&A between our guest celebrity speakers, addressing the power, impact, and legacy of sports.
Monday’s CCA Invitational Pro-Am Tournament Brought the Competition
Understandably, excitement was high for the pro-am tournament on the following day. Supporters of JoyRx showed up on Monday in a big way, ensuring the tournament was a swinging success.
The tournament provided our 23 teams many opportunities for friendly competition, playing in the shamble format. In the end, though, there can only be one team (or two!) as the winner, so a hearty congratulations to our winners:
Brien Revord, Noel Preston, Tyler Breault, Trevor Dowd & Tom Baker
Dave Andersen, Scott Shepherd, Zach Foushee, Nolan Farr, & Scott Gascho
Congratulations to our pro competition winner: Jared Lambert!
Finally, let’s give a big round of applause to our contest winners:
Closest to the Pin, Hole #4: Joo Ri Kim & Jake Laban
Closest to Pin, Hole #12: Gretchen Johnson & Andrew Von Lossow
Putting Contest: Ron Merryman
Thank You for Making Joy Possible
Thanks to the generosity of our community, Oregon Golf Club, our sponsors, and the steering committee, the fifteenth annual CCA Invitational was a huge success. We look forward to next year and the Joy we’ll create for more kids who need more than medicine to heal.
