Oregon Symphony Brings Holiday Joy to Sick Kids in Livestream Event
On Friday, December 16, JoyRx celebrated the holidays with the Oregon Symphony Musicians for a special holiday music event. Comprised of six strings and percussionist volunteers from the Oregon Symphony, the livestream concert delivered festive holiday cheer to families across the country.
We invited our hospital and pediatric healthcare partners around the nation to broadcast the livestream, whether through iPads or CCTV. It was a much-needed moment of Joy for many during this holiday season, with groups of friends and families gathering to watch the performance at the hospital or at home.
With forty-four songs on the list to choose from, kids could request their favorites and have fun singing along, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music. During the 45-minute broadcast, we received 16 song requests. “Feliz Navidad” was the most popular request with four votes — the most we’ve ever received during a single live concert!
The Oregon Symphony musicians took the requests in real-time, playing songs coming in on the livestream chat feature. There was even a request for “Happy Birthday” from a Child Life Specialist at Connecticut Children’s Hospital for a few kids who were celebrating their birthday that day.
