JoyRx Welcomes Three New National Hospital Partners in August and September
Hospital visits and overnight stays for seriously ill children and teens at three new locations are about to get a little more Joyful! We’re excited to announce new additions to our JoyRx Music national hospital partners: University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN), East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, and Medical City Children’s Hospital. These three new additions bring our national hospital partners to a total of 31.
JoyRx is dedicated to bringing music and Joy to kids in these three hospitals. We’ll provide weekly 1-hour Digital-Live bedside music sessions, facilitated by hospital staff or volunteers who will go room to room offering a visit from a trained JoyRx Music Specialist on an iPad.
We know how important these moments can be, especially during these times when many kids are feeling isolated because of their hospital stays, in addition to remaining COVID-19 protections.
JoyRx Breaking Ground in Nevada
Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, UMCSN began its partnership with JoyRx on August 24.
“We are so excited to start partnering with JoyRx Music to provide music to our pediatric patients,” said Lindsey Harris, Certified Child Life Specialist for UMCSN. “Music is so important in the healing process.”
Harris looks forward to what JoyRx will offer the children under the hospital’s care.
“This will give our patients a chance to communicate through music, have fun with music, and even promote relaxation with some of our patients as music can be a distraction,” she said. “We look forward to providing this valuable resource to our patients and cannot wait to see how this program impacts our patients!”
This collaboration is JoyRx’s first national hospital partner located in Nevada.
Bringing Joy to Tennessee
Meanwhile, in Knoxville, Tennessee, JoyRx Music launched at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital on August 25.
East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is certified by the state of Tennessee as the only Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center accredited by the Joint Commission.
This is the first national partner located in the state of Tennessee. Thanks to a referral through our contact at Children’s Hospital of Savannah, we were able to make this connection.
Expanding Our Texas Offering in Dallas
Finally, JoyRx continues its commitment and outreach in Texas with its newest hospital partnership in Dallas with the Medical City Children’s Hospital. Launched on September 1, JoyRx Music helps children and teens find their Joy during the trying and turbulent experience of extended hospital stays.
The addition of Medical City Children’s Hospital marks our eighth Texas partner who is now offering JoyRx Music to their kids, families, and medical staff.
Join Our Joy Revolution!
We’re excited for more kids to find Joy during the ups and downs of hospital stays – and we know how important it is to find that simple Joy one strum of a guitar, one ukulele lesson, or one personal concert at a time.
Join us in bringing more music to more kids throughout the country. To become a hospital partner or to bring JoyRx Music to your clinic, contact Maura Boyce at MBoyce@JoyRx.org.
