Transitions: A Conversation with Grace Holland

Purple card that reads, "Transitions: A Conversation with Grace Holland."

Today we’re sharing the news that Grace Holland will be stepping down from her role as Regional Executive Director, South, for JoyRx.

Grace will be missed! Her leadership, relationship-building, fundraising expertise, and non-profit experience and instincts have been instrumental in growing our Austin office this past year. With partnership from our donors, volunteers, and her amazing team, Austin brought music to over 2,500 hospitalized children last year.

As she prepares for her next adventures, we asked Grace a couple of questions to shine a light on the impact and tremendous growth opportunities for JoyRx in Austin, Central Texas, and the region.

Here’s what she had to say.

JoyRx: Tell us about JoyRx’s growth in Austin — what’s a quick recap of this past year?

Grace: There’s so much to celebrate this past year! First and foremost is the unprecedented way our community came together and showed up in support of seriously ill kids and their families.

JoyRx has the most wonderful music specialists, pediatric partners, and community supporters. Together, we brought joy and music to over 2,500 hospitalized children, launched three new pediatric partnerships, and grew the Central Texas program by over 300%.

Why do you think our work and programs resonate with the Austin and Central Texas community?

Austin’s love for music and love for people fit perfectly with JoyRx’s mission.

Plus, the same culture of innovation that is transforming Central Texas into a premiere healthcare hub is also what has made our pediatric partners so eager to partner with us!

What would you say to the incoming Regional Executive Director?

Embrace this unique chance to lead! You’ll have a fantastic team and a supportive community. Listen, learn, build strong relationships, and keep innovating to reach more kids. The Austin Leadership Council is ready to help you succeed.

What would you say to someone who wants to get involved in supporting JoyRx?

If you’re thinking about getting involved with JoyRx, go for it! Whether you volunteer, donate, or spread the word, every bit helps bring joy to seriously ill kids.

Your support can make a big difference.

We’re going to miss you and your leadership! What’s next for you?

I’m going to miss all of you, too! My next role feels a bit like going home as I’ll be returning to my lifelong passion for education as Chief Development Officer for Communities in Schools of Central Texas.

While I’m excited about the next chapter, I will never forget my time here. JoyRx has taught me to slow down and cherish the small but sacred moments where we find joy and connection.

I look forward to remaining a supporter and advocate for JoyRx and its mission and can’t wait to see what’s next for this special organization — the best is yet to come!
