JoyRx is excited to welcome Texas Children’s Hospital – North Austin as our newest hospital location in Austin. On June 26, 2024, we launched live, bedside music for children and families in the hospital.

Today we’re sharing the news that Grace Holland will be stepping down from her role as Regional Executive Director, South, for JoyRx.

Today on July 25, JoyRx celebrates our twenty-ninth birthday as an organization. It’s been an inspiring and humbling twenty-nine years and we’re so grateful for all of our supporters coming on this journey with us.

On Tuesday, June 25, JoyRx Music took to the stage to host a summer concert at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel.

We’re pleased to announce our newest hospital partner for 2024. Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, joined the JoyRx Music Network on May 7.  

It’s been a fruitful fiscal year for JoyRx Music’s programmatic expansion across the country. From Portland to Austin to New York City to Memphis — we’re ending our 2023-2024 fiscal year at the end of April 2024 with 46 pediatric hospital and healthcare partners, including 10 new sites in our network.

What a week! JoyRx Director of Partner Engagement Allyn Cripe and I recently attended and presented at the forty-seventh annual APOSW (Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers) conference, which took place in Chicago, Illinois, from April 8 to 10.

As the founder of JoyRx, I am writing on behalf of my colleagues on the Board of Directors to inform you of a leadership change. After nearly three years as our CEO, and over six years at the company, Danielle York and JoyRx | Children’s Cancer Association have parted ways.

Every February, JoyRx partners with local Joy Maker businesses to celebrate joy all month long.

This year, we teamed up with KATU news, local businesses, and members of the community to raise critical funds for our JoyRx Music, Mentorship, and Nature programs.

Every three minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer.

And that’s why, as the summer draws to a close and we head into autumn, JoyRx, the mission delivery of Children’s Cancer Association, recognizes National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

After over 28 years of delivering the healing power of Joy in the Northwest and beyond, 2023 marks the year it’s official: the JoyRx team is now bicoastal!

Today we here at JoyRx, the mission delivery of Children’s Cancer Association, want to say: Happy Birthday to us!

On June 16, JoyRx hosted a workshop and presentation at the 2023 Child Life Conference in Grapevine, Texas. Held annually, the Child Life Conference provides attendees the opportunity to learn the latest in the field of pediatric healthcare. During this conference, attendees reconnect with friends and peers, make new acquaintances, and enjoy the company of other child life professionals.

Each year, on the first Sunday in June, the US observes National Cancer Survivors Day.

Vice President of Programs at JoyRx, Maura Boyce, recently wrote an article for Healthcare Business Today on the power and importance of music as medicine.

At JoyRx, we’re dedicated to fostering a safe, nurturing, and supportive workplace for our team. In light of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, we are committed to strengthening the mental well-being of our staff — because when helping children find their Joy, it’s important that we find Joy, too.

We’re thrilled to announce our newest hospital partner for 2023. Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, joined the JoyRx family in February, bringing our total hospital partners to 33.   

International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8 is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.  

The past year brought many enhancements to JoyRx Nature’s Alexandra Ellis Caring Cabin to ensure as many families as possible can experience the serene ambiance nature can provide during a trying time. We’re thrilled to highlight these changes — and how they impact families in need of emotional healing.
