Live from the Heart: Shakey Graves

Shakey Graves Live from the Heart

The Gibson Showroom was the perfect backdrop for Children’s Cancer Association’s (CCA) first Live from the Heart event in Austin, Texas. 150 people enjoyed an intimate concert featuring renowned musician Shakey Graves. They gathered to celebrate and support the healing power of music, not just for themselves, but for the hundreds of children and teens at hospitals in Texas.

“We are honored that the Austin community has embraced MyMusicRx and is a true partner in delivering music medicine,” said Founder and Chief Joy Officer, Regina Ellis. Child Life Specialist, Robyn Moyer, from St. David’s Children’s Hospital, also spoke, sharing more about the vision for MyMusicRx in Austin and the impact it has already made on the local children and teens.

Guests enjoyed an exciting auction with items and opportunities like Tito’s Vodka Party Bus experience, a weekend in Portland with an exclusive concert, a tour of Kendra Scott HQ, and a beautiful Epiphone guitar personally addressed to the winner by Shakey Graves.

Headed by CCA’s incredible MyMusicRx Austin Champs Board, the event raised over $100K, which will support Bedside Music Medicine at St. David’s Children’s Hospital and annual concerts at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Seven Years in Austin

2019 marks the seventh year in which MyMusicRx hosted artists at Dell Children’s Medical Center. It’s the first year facilitating artist room-to-room visits at St. David’s Children’s Hospital. MyMusicRx also returned to Austin’s SXSW and Austin City Limits to capture exclusive artist videos for children and teens to watch on MyMusicRx.org.

This magical night wouldn’t have been possible without our generous partners, Tito’s, Austin Portfolio Real Estate, Pro-Ed, Realty Austin, Maxell Locke & Ritter, Gallagher Consulting, UBS, and Texas Capital Bank. Thank you for believing in joy and the healing power of music!
