JoyRx Music Expands Services in its 2023-2024 Fiscal Year

It’s been a fruitful fiscal year for JoyRx Music’s programmatic expansion across the country. From Portland to Austin to New York City to Memphis — we’re ending our 2023-2024 fiscal year at the end of April 2024 with 46 pediatric hospital and healthcare partners, including 10 new sites in our network.

We’ve planted strong roots, and like a tree growing, we’re excited to see the branches expand across the country.

This has been a year of growth, and we’re excited to welcome new team-ups with hospital and healthcare facilities nationwide next year.

New Drumbeats from the Mountains to the Midwest

We welcomed two new partners in the Mountain and Midwest regions this year.

Children’s Nebraska (Omaha, NE) received access to On Demand musical content offerings in October 2023. They are the only full-service children’s hospital in Nebraska; this is our first partnership in the state.

In February 2024, we welcomed Children’s Hospital of Colorado (Aurora, CO) to the JoyRx Network with Digital Live and On Demand services. They are our first healthcare partner in Colorado. Working directly with their Seacrest Studios team, we deliver pre-recorded content and bi-weekly Digital Live concerts.

JoyRx Music Specialist Kelsey started the first live session with a fun and super interactive SINGO concert. Not only was the concert broadcast to all patient rooms, but we also had a studio full of kids playing along at the Seacrest Studios broadcast desk.

By the concert’s end, every kid in the studio was a winner with their multiple SINGOs. They got to pick a prize from a big table of goodies, including JoyRx swag.

Growing Our Groove in the South

We’ve been busy expanding our music offerings to hospitals and healthcare facilities in Texas and beyond. Our bedside and virtual offerings have seen massive growth in this region this past year with seven new partnerships.

Then, in June 2023, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital (Memphis, TN) joined our network with access to On Demand offerings. On Demand music also became available at Children’s Hospital of Richmond (Richmond, VA) via the Get Well Network in February 2024.

In Texas, we celebrated four new partners in this fiscal year. In November 2023, Baptist Children’s Hospital at North Central (San Antonio, TX) began Digital Live with weekly bedside services delivered via a JoyRx-provided iPad.

“Virtual offerings help improve access to music for children across the country,” said JoyRx Music Manager Elke Downer. “Our team is excited to serve more kids in San Antonio with the addition of this new partner!”

Austin, Texas, also saw new additions to the JoyRx Music network. Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s Specialty Pavilion opened its doors to live, bedside visits from JoyRx Music Specialists in April 2023. It’s been nearly a year of visits from JoyRx Music Specialists Chrissy and Monica, and families always look forward to their weekly visits.

Additionally, Dell Children’s Medical Center — an existing partner — expanded its services to include its Emergency Department in October 2023.

Finally, in February 2024, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas launched a bi-weekly live music service, serving families of patients admitted at Dell Children’s Medical Center. Service began on Valentine’s Day, and it was great fun for families and staff. There were plenty of sweet treats and musical experiences for everyone to enjoy.

The number one song request? Happy birthday! A few children were celebrating their birthdays at Ronald McDonald House, so Chrissy and Monica were there to sing and bring smiles during dinner service.

New Songs to Sing in New York

This fiscal year, we welcomed four new partnerships to the JoyRx Music network in the New York area.

First, Brooklyn Hospital Center started Digital Live services in October 2023.  Founded in 1845, this is the oldest hospital in Brooklyn and services communities across the borough.

We launched services the same day our Vice President of Programs, Maura Boyce, visited the New York market. She visited the Brooklyn Hospital Center right after the first service and met with the staff in person.

“It was great working with JoyRx here, and our patients who could do the session loved it!” said Taylor Brower, a Certified Child Life Specialist. “Thank you so much for taking the time to meet and tell me more about all the great work that JoyRx is doing. I am so excited to see where the future takes our partnership and your organization!”

We said hello to Rutland Nursing Home in November 2023. Located on the campus of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, they operate a pediatric long-term care unit for children with severe developmental and metabolic disorders.

Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital launched Digital Live and On Demand services in January 2024. JoyRx works directly with Skyline Studio to broadcast monthly SINGO concerts, and we provide On Demand CCTV packages.

In 2022, the hospital received a perfect score as an “equality leader” on the Human Rights Campaign LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Index list. JoyRx is thrilled to partner with such leadership.

“We are thrilled about our new show,” said Jennifer Weil, Child Life Patient Media Coordinator at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital. “Parents and patients had great feedback!”

Maimonides Children’s Hospital began Digital Live services in March 2024. Located in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, it serves a highly diverse population, including immigrant, Latinx, Orthodox Jewish, and South Asian communities.

The Lasting Impact

Our continued growth and expansion nationwide demonstrate the need for services like JoyRx Music. Our JoyRx Music Specialists make connections every day, reaching more children who need a little joy — and helping them to feel better.

That’s our mission, our north star. We’re here to help sick kids feel like kids again — to take something as simple yet powerful as a song, a drumbeat, or a guitar strum and turn it into something amazing.
