There’s a poster that hangs on the door of Emma Aanderud’s hospital room that reads, “Cancer Sucks, But Life Doesn’t.” That’s a sentiment that this energetic, friendly teen has fully embraced throughout her treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Meet CCA Hero, Joevanni
If I can see it, I can do it. If I just believe, there’s nothing to it.
That’s a line from one of Joevanni’s favorite songs, “I Believe I Can Fly.” He sings it whenever he needs a lift during his treatments for aplastic anemia, which he’s been bravely fighting for almost three years.

Little Caoimhe (pronounced KWEE-va), has a personality that sparkles just as brightly as her big blue eyes. Her family had recently moved to Portland from Dublin, Ireland, when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

May 7 marks a momentous day in JoyRx history. This was the day that, in 1995, Alexandra Ellis, at the age of just five and a half years old, died of cancer.
